Penny Reed’s lifelong commitment to 4-H has helped shape the experiences of local youth and strengthen the Wapello County 4-H program. Raised on a farm in Wapello County, Penny exhibited a variety of projects, including livestock and home economics, through the 4-H program. Through these experiences, Penny developed a strong work ethic, leadership skills, and a continuous passion for learning.
Penny’s dedication to 4-H grew as she became a 4-H parent. She actively supported her children, encouraging them to explore new opportunities and become engaged members of their community. Her support extended beyond her own family as she continued to give back to the program that had meant so much to her growing up.
Today, Penny continues her strong connection to 4-H by supporting the next generation. She proudly supports her eight grandchildren as they participate in many different 4-H projects and activities, continuing the family tradition.
Over the years, Penny has played an important role in supporting and advancing 4-H in Wapello County. She currently serves as a leader of the Hooves & Hats 4-H Club, dedicates time to the Wapello County 4-H Foundation, and coordinates the 4-H Expo Royalty Pageant. Her efforts have helped create meaningful opportunities for young people to grow and be recognized for their dedication to the program.
