Craig and Judi Olson have been dedicated supporters and volunteers of the Shelby County 4-H program, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to youth, agriculture, and community. Craig began his 4-H journey as a member of the Fairview Future Farmers 4-H Club. While he enjoyed exhibiting static projects, his true passion was showing hogs. Craig continued to give back by coaching successful livestock judging teams in Shelby County.
Craig and Judi shared their love of 4-H with their family, enrolling their children in Clover Kids as soon as they were eligible. They were active members of the Fairview Family 4-H Club and later became a founding family of the Nishna Valley Navigators 4-H Club. Craig spearheaded the club’s project to mark historic country school sites throughout Shelby County, helping preserve local history while engaging young members.
Judi has also made many lasting contributions. She organized and grew the baking contest and has dedicated many hours as a comment writer at static exhibit judging. Judi also arranged the use of the high school kitchens and facilities for many 4-H banquets during her time as Food Service Director.
Craig has been a familiar voice at the Shelby County Fair, announcing the 4-H and FFA hog show for many decades, encouraging and enhancing youth knowledge of the swine industry.
Together, Craig and Judi remain proud supporters of Shelby County 4-H. They are grateful for the opportunities the program has provided their family and community, and their dedication has made a lasting impact on generations of 4-H members.
