When an Ida County 4-H alum decided to marry a Sac County farmer, the Sac County 4-H program gained a winner. Tracy Pickhinke from Early married Steve Pickhinke and soon became the mother of four boys.
When her oldest son, Tyler, joined the Early Achievers 4-H Club, Tracy jumped in with both feet, becoming a leader, and that service continues today, even though her youngest finished 4-H four years ago.
As a 21-year leader, Tracy has helped members with the club’s many civic engagement projects, often 12 to 15 per year. She also helped members from throughout the county prepare their communications events, fair write-ups, record books, and state awards applications. Tracy’s encouraging smile and words have been appreciated by countless Sac County 4-H'ers.
With all four sons, Tyler, Alex, Connor, and Logan, receiving state project awards, national trips, and each one participating in State 4-H Council for two years each. Tracy supported each one on their journey, as well as many other Early Achievers and Sac County members.
Today, Tracy continues to lead the Early Achievers leader team, assist any Sac County member who wants to apply for state awards, and turn out many scholarship recommendations for past members each year.
