Craig and Kathy Harris of Shenandoah, Iowa, have been dedicated supporters of 4‑H for more than 60 years, beginning with their own youth involvement and continuing through decades of volunteer service, leadership, and philanthropy. Both developed a deep appreciation for agriculture, leadership, and community through their early 4‑H experiences—Craig in Cass County and Kathy in Fremont County. As youth, they excelled in project work, leadership roles, and state-level involvement, with Craig serving as Iowa Boys State 4‑H President in 1964 and Kathy as State 4‑H Vice President in 1966. Kathy also participated in the National 4‑H Conference and contributed to the addition of “my world” to the 4‑H pledge.

4‑H played a meaningful role in bringing Craig and Kathy together, and they later married in 1969 after reconnecting at Iowa State University. After completing graduate degrees, they settled in Page County, where they raised their family and became deeply involved in the local 4‑H program. Both served as club leaders, mentors, and volunteers, supporting youth through projects, fairs, and camps. Craig also contributed through the Extension Council, livestock programs, and local promotion of 4‑H, while Kathy served as a judge and encourager for countless youth across Southwest Iowa.

Today, the Harris family continues to support 4-H through service, advocacy, and generous giving, helping inspire future generations of young leaders.
