Phyllis Postma has demonstrated a lifelong commitment to 4-H, ISU Extension, and her community through service, leadership, and a passion for youth development. Growing up on a farm near George, Iowa, she was introduced early to the values of hard work and community involvement through Lyon County 4-H. In 1990, she became an O’Brien County resident when her family moved to the Postma family farm near Sanborn, continuing a legacy of agricultural roots and service.
As a dedicated 4-H supporter, Phyllis played an active role in guiding her children, Ryan and Robyn, through their 4-H experiences. Today, she continues that tradition with her grandchildren, supporting their involvement in Clover Kids. She looks forward to further sharing her love for cooking and baking with them as they grow into 4-H members.
Phyllis has combined her professional background as a dietetic technician with her love for teaching by serving as a Food and Nutrition judge at numerous county fairs. Her passion further extends to writing fair-related articles and organizing educational games at the fair.
As an avid fair participant herself, Phyllis is an active exhibitor in open class at both the O’Brien County and Clay County fairs. Her favorite category to enter is the open class bar division, where she shares her love of baking and creativity.
Her dedication, warmth, and servant leadership continue to make a meaningful impact on generations of families in O’Brien County.
