For nearly five decades, Kathy Smith has dedicated her life to developing young people through 4-H and the horse industry. A former member of the Sweetland Sunshine 4-H Club, she participated in various livestock projects while building a foundation for a lifetime of service.
Her commitment to Muscatine County 4-H began when she started teaching 4-H dog obedience classes and founded the Stampeding Clovers 4-H Club. She also serves as the Muscatine County Horse Superintendent and Dog Superintendent.
Kathy teaches riding lessons and, alongside her husband, has owned and operated Rockn Boot Ranch LLC for the past 21 years.
Through her leadership, the Stampeding Clovers have become one of the county's largest horse clubs, with 27 horses exhibited at the Muscatine County Fair and more than 20 members participating in the Iowa 4-H Horse Show. She also serves as the Horse Show Manager for the Tom Martin Memorial Youth Show Series, providing valuable opportunities for youth.
Her dedication extends beyond livestock education, organizing the Muscatine Special Needs Egg Hunt, demonstrating commitment to serving the community.
Throughout her years of service, her mission has remained the same: to provide youth with a safe, encouraging environment where they can build confidence, responsibility, sportsmanship, and lifelong skills through working with animals. Her unwavering dedication, exceptional leadership, and lasting impact on generations of 4-H members.
