Jane’s Waltz’s lifelong connection to 4-H began in Story County, Iowa, where she was an active member of the Slater Hustling Homemakers 4-H Club. Inspired by her mother, who served as the club leader, Jane joined 4-H at the age of 10 and quickly developed a passion for learning and creating. Throughout her 4-H career, she exhibited a variety of projects at the fair, including sewing, baked goods, and county demonstrations. Of all her experiences, sewing remained her favorite project area. She fondly recalls learning to sew on a treadle machine before later transitioning to an electric sewing machine. One of her cherished memories is filling her mother’s car to the brim with static exhibits prepared for the fair.

Jane continued her 4-H journey by becoming the club leader of the Red Oak Rockets 4-H Club in Montgomery County. During her leadership, she organized workshops, guided youth in their project work, and mentored countless members.

Jane’s dedication to 4-H also extended far beyond the club level. For 41 years, she has served as the Food and Nutrition Superintendent at the Montgomery County Fair, contributing her time and expertise to static judging and the bake sale. She takes great pride in watching young people bring their projects to life, confidently sharing what they have learned with judges and celebrating their accomplishments.

Jane’s commitment, leadership, and passion for youth development have left a lasting impact on the Montgomery County 4-H program.
