It is with great pride that we recognize an individual whose dedication, leadership, and unwavering commitment have left a lasting impact on the youth of Louisa County. When anyone speaks about the Louisa County 4-H Horse Program, one name is certain to be mentioned — Terri Slater.
Long after her own boys completed their time in the program, Terri could have stepped away and simply watched from the sidelines. Instead, she chose to continue serving, giving countless hours to ensure future generations could experience the same opportunities and growth that the 4-H Horse Program provides. She understands the unique connection between young people and horses and the confidence, horsemanship, leadership, and sportsmanship that develop through competition and learning in the show arena.
Terri has also been a driving force behind the continual improvement of our Louisa County Fair horse arena, dedicating her energy and vision to keeping the facility functional, safe, and welcoming for all who use it. Most importantly, she shares her knowledge freely, never seeking recognition or reward in return.
For her years of selfless service, leadership, and devotion to the youth of our community, Terri Slater is truly a deserving choice for the 2026 Louisa County nominee for the Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame.
