Matt and Heather Bombei have been deeply involved in local 4-H for over 20 years. Heather served as a Clover Kid Leader for the Tri-County Chapter and, most recently, as an Extension Council member. While their sons, Luke and Jacob, showed swine, Matt served as Swine Superintendent. He also helped to establish a purebred class for the swine show during that time.
Matt and Heather married in 1996 and purchased an acreage where their love for growing and showing swine flourished. The daily dedication instilled a strong work ethic, resilience, and deep appreciation for livestock, which they taught their sons.
Luke and Jacob spent their 4-H years showing at the Keokuk County Expo and the Iowa State Fair. Now, with two grandchildren, Matt and Heather are overjoyed to be passing those values down to the next generation.
Their passion for swine remains strong as they continue to show at the Iowa State Fair Open Show each year.
Matt and Heather are deeply honored to receive this award. Their belief in 4-H and the strength of the 4-H community is what has helped make the best, better. They would like to thank each and every person who has helped make the Expo what it is today, as this award is a reflection of everyone’s hard work. The Keokuk County Expo will always hold a special place in their hearts and continues to be a positive place where families grow.
