Brad and Sally Fisher have dedicated more than two decades of service to Iowa 4-H. Their 4-H journey began in 2002, inspired by a desire to support their daughter and give back to their local community. Sally stepped into a leadership role with the Deer Creek Ramblers 4-H Club. Along the way, she helped establish the Deer Creek Ramblers Clover Kids Club, creating opportunities for even younger youth to begin their 4-H experience. Brad joined her as a volunteer and further extended his impact through 16 years of service on the Johnson County Fairboard. Together, Brad and Sally have been passionate advocates for community service, instilling in youth the importance of giving back.
One of the most meaningful aspects of their service has been witnessing the generational impact of 4-H. They have seen lessons they once taught young members echoed years later by those same individuals as they mentor younger participants. To them, the fair has always represented more than competition. It is a community where families support one another, celebrate successes, and grow together.
They believe 4-H is a place where youth should explore their interests, try new things, and not be afraid to ask for help. Their guidance has always emphasized learning, creativity, leadership, and the importance of becoming contributing members of their communities. Brad and Sally measure their success not in recognition, but in the achievements of the young people they have mentored. Seeing former 4-H members succeed in life and carry forward the values they learned is their greatest reward.
