Kendra and John Halferty have dedicated countless hours of volunteer service in support of 4 H youth and the success of the Jasper County Fair. Their commitment reflects the very heart of 4 H through their leadership, service, and encouragement of young people. Over the years, they have both generously shared their time and talents in many ways. Before, during, and after the fair, Kendra and John can be found on the fairgrounds ensuring that the buildings and grounds are ready, maintained, and then cleaned up for the season. From Kendra serving on the Jasper County Fair Board for 22 years to John ensuring the safety of the fair attendees when he was Sheriff, both are familiar faces on the Jasper County Fairgrounds. Their willingness to lend a hand wherever needed plays a vital role in the success of the fair.
Perhaps most importantly, Kendra and John are strong champions of 4-H members. They can be found attending contests hosted before the fair (e.g. the Advanced Feeder Show) and during the fair. While their physical presence is noticed and valued, their verbal encouragement (and oftentimes social media recognition), is greatly appreciated by the parents and youth.
The Jasper County Fair and its 4-H program are better because of Kendra and John. Their steady leadership, work ethic, and genuine care for youth have left a lasting impact on our community. For these reasons, they are truly deserving of induction in the 4 H Hall of Fame.
