Amy Hamilton's contributions and 4-H experiences started at a very young age. A member of the Hamilton Boosters 4-H club from grade school to graduation, she now serves as the leader of the renamed Decatur County Boosters club. Combining her membership and leadership, Amy has been involved for over 30 years.

"Who knew how powerful a little white heifer bottle calf would be?" Amy said, reflecting on the simple moment that would change her life as a Decatur County resident and Cattleman.

Through 4-H, her family immersed themselves in agriculture. She and her siblings were each given a female calf to raise and show. The support of the local, rural community then made it possible to work toward her dream of having her own herd.

Over the years, there have been several kids in her club that wanted to show but didn't have the resources. Amy stepped up, knowing it was time to give back. She has since helped support projects for a growing list of 4-Hers from her county and beyond, giving them a chance to show a calf and pay for it later. Just as she had done.

Amy remains very active in her community of Decatur County serving not only as a 4-H leader, but also as Council Chair for Extension, on her township board, and as  member of the Decatur County Cattleman's Association. We are pleased to honor her in the 4-H Hall of Fame!
