Dan has been active in Clinton County for many years helping to educate and encourage the youth. He believes in the development and molding of the leaders of tomorrow.
Dan grew up in Kankakee County in Illinois. He was a member of the Cabery Specials 4-H club for 8 years and he was also active in FFA during his high school years. He carried projects in purebred swine and sheep.
After high school, Dan attended Illinois State University majoring in Agriculture Education. He taught his first two years after college in Glenville, Minnesota. In 1973, Dan accepted his position as the FFA Advisor at Central Dewitt Community School District where he stayed for 37 years until he retired from teaching. Dan served as the Sheep and Goat project Superintendent for the Clinton County Fair for 20 years. He has judged many local achievement shows and County Fair Sheep and Swine shows in Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin. Dan has been the showring announcer for the livestock shows in Clinton County since 1984 and still enjoys helping with this task. Dan served on the Clinton County Extension Council for 16 years and was the chairman for 9 of those years. Dan has been married to his wife Jody for 34 years and they make their home in rural Dewitt, still raising purebred sheep.
He feels that every child should take part in the 4-H or FFA programs. They teach responsibility, life skills, and values that our young people need to become successful adults. We thank Dan for his many years of continued service and commitment to the Clinton County 4-H and FFA programs!
