Rick and Beth have dedicated countless years to strengthening the 4-H program and creating opportunities for youth in their community. Rick’s journey began as a 4-H member himself, where he developed a strong foundation in leadership, responsibility, and service. He has carried these values forward in his continued involvement. Beth contributed her time and talents as a leader of the Green Bay Gophers, guiding members through meaningful projects and helping shape confident, capable young leaders.
Beyond club leadership, Beth also supported the county fair by assisting with static judging, ensuring that youth received thoughtful feedback and recognition for their hard work. Together, Rick and Beth made a lasting impact on the livestock program, especially through their involvement with sheep projects. They opened their farm to host Darwin Downing’s Sheep Clinic the last several years providing hands-on learning experiences for exhibitors.
In addition, they played a key role in supporting youth financially by helping gather auction funds from local businesses and individuals for livestock exhibitors for over 20 years, ensuring their efforts were rewarded and sustained. Whether mentoring, organizing, or volunteering behind the scenes, Rick and Beth have consistently gone above and beyond to invest in youth and strengthen their community. Their dedication truly embodies the spirit of 4-H and makes them deserving inductees into the Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame.
