Andrea grew up in Black Hawk County 4-H as a member of the Lester Livewires and was born into a fourth-generation 4-H and FFA family. She exhibited sheep, cattle, and numerous static projects, with several photography exhibits advancing to the state level. She achieved her goal of raising children who are actively involved in 4-H and the Iowa State Fair, with her daughter Madalynn and son Jameson continuing the family tradition. Andrea represented Black Hawk County as Fair Queen and competed in the Iowa State Fair Queen Contest despite having a broken leg.
Over the years, she has served in many leadership roles, including Youth Advisory Committee member, Jefferson Superiors club leader, Sheep and Goat Superintendent, and Livestock Committee member.
While Andrea is often the face of the family’s 4-H involvement, Luke is the behind-the-scenes problem solver who is always willing to lend a hand, tackle projects, and help wherever needed. Luke was never in 4-H himself, but together, they have dedicated countless hours to supporting youth, strengthening the 4-H program, and giving back to the community.
Today, they raise beef cattle, swine, sheep, and goats on their family farm while continuing to share their passion for agriculture and 4-H with the next generation.
