Andrea Heesch’s heart for 4-H started when she was a little girl and she began her career at the Freeborn County Fair showing horses, hogs, and sheep. She also enjoyed going to the Minnesota State Fair with her sheep. Andrea met many lifelong friends at the fair and spent some of her summers at Camp Patterson, a 4-H camp.
Andrea married the love of her life, Clint, in 1993 and moved to southern Iowa in 1994. After moving, Clint and Andrea welcomed three children, Tell, Wyatt, and Paige. They were all involved in 4-H, learning life lessons and making many memories. Andrea now has six grandchildren that she dearly enjoys spending time with. Her oldest grandchild is currently in Clover Kids.
Andrea has volunteered with various things in Appanoose County throughout many years. She has been a leader of the Franklin Farmhands 4-H Club for 14 years. Although her kids are grown and her grandchildren are just starting their 4-H career, that does not stop Andrea from helping before and during the fair. She is always at the fair and ready to assist not only her own club’s 4-Hers, but anyone needing help. Before the fair, she volunteers her time to help with beef weigh-ins, and closer to the fair, she helps prepare stall cards for each animal. During the fair, she volunteers helping with shows, weigh-ins, and the exhibit building. She is a constant help and supporter to everyone. She has served various terms on the Adult Committee since 2006.
We are very proud to have Andrea Heesch be a part of Appanoose County and the Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame.
