Mike Goodall’s connection to 4-H runs deep, beginning with his parents, Charles and Clarice, who were actively involved—his father a longtime leader of the Delmar Hot Shots. Mike and his siblings were all 4-H members from age 10 through graduation. Each year, Mike’s primary project was showing beef cattle, which taught him responsibility and showmanship. Memorable experiences included catching a greased pig at age 12, attending 4-H camps in Madrid, and a bus trip to Washington, D.C.
As an adult, Mike has remained a dedicated volunteer. He and his wife Mary, both retired nurses, are active FFA alumni, assisting with scholarship selections, concessions, and greenhouse projects. Mike led the DeWitt Hustlers 4-H club for about 15 years and served on the Extension Youth Committee for many years. He currently serves as Superintendent of the Horse Committee and has been a longtime member. Since 2012, Mike has also been a member of the Clinton County Fair Board.
Now retired from orthopedic nursing after 42 years, Mike also serves as a DeWitt Township Trustee. His hobbies include farming, managing a stock cow herd, gardening, lawn care, and grilling for family meals. He enjoys weekend deer hunts with his son and working on his children’s land, including annual wild hog hunting trips in Oklahoma.
Mike and Mary raised two children, Kate and Brock, and are proud grandparents to four grandchildren who are now becoming involved in 4-H and FFA. Mike believes strongly in the 4-H program’s ability to build confidence, accountability, and independence, and he looks forward to watching it grow for future generations.
