Woodbury County proudly recognizes Debbie Wilcox for her outstanding dedication to the 4-H program. A lifelong 4-H supporter, Debbie began as a member of the Pierson Blue Ribbons and Pierson Handy Helpers clubs, excelling in livestock and family and consumer science projects. She served on the 4-H County Council and earned numerous awards.
As a 4-H parent, Debbie became a club leader and later served as a 4-H superintendent in multiple areas, including Overall Superintendent. She organized judging areas, coordinated volunteers, developed forms, entered data, and documented state fair entries—ensuring a smooth experience for all.
In 2020, when COVID-19 disrupted traditional events, Debbie helped transition award interviews to Zoom and organized a recognition event during the 4-H Expo. She continues to serve on the 4-H Recognition Team, evaluating awards, conducting interviews, and planning the annual celebration.
Debbie’s newest role involves coordinating the state fair process—managing entries, hosting mandatory meetings, and ensuring members are well-informed. As vice-chair of the 4-H & Fair Committee and a former member of the 4-H & Youth Committee, she has helped shape fair rules and policies while bringing fresh ideas to grow the program.
Beyond 4-H, Debbie is a kindergarten teacher in Sioux City, active in her church, and a dedicated Woodbury County Fair volunteer. She and her husband, Ryan, live near Correctionville. Their sons, Austin and Braden, were active 4-H’ers, and Debbie looks forward to seeing her grandson Weston join the tradition.
For over 40 years, Debbie has strengthened 4-H and inspired generations of youth.
