Tammy began leading the Hardin Knights 4-H Club 30 years ago when her son joined 4-H. Although she grew up on a farm and participated in 4-H as a youth, her experience was limited to static exhibits. She quickly learned the ropes of animal showing and became a go-to mentor for all 4-H’ers, always ready to lend a hand—whether leading a calf to water, catching a loose animal, or helping with fitting and static projects.

Over the years, Tammy helped organize numerous community service projects with the Hardin Knights, including care packages for military personnel, mowing the Dowsville Cemetery, monthly crafts for Northcrest Nursing Home residents, spaghetti suppers, Christmas gifts for families, and blankets for the Humane Society.

Tammy was a constant presence at the fair, attending every show and helping with setup, cleanup, and ensuring club members had what they needed. Beyond her club, she supported the beef superintendent with stalling assignments, helped find judges for the Caleb Davis Helping Hands award, and judged club record books.

Even after her children graduated, Tammy continued to lead the Hardin Knights, now guiding her grandchildren and mentoring two new leaders who stepped up in 2024. Her dedication, deep knowledge, and unwavering support of 4-H principles have positively impacted countless families.
