Webster County proudly honors Ivy Carnelley, longtime 4-H Food Stand Manager, as a beloved mentor and supporter of youth development. For 17 years, Ivy worked alongside 4-H members, parents, and leaders to raise funds for clubs, project areas, and the Citizenship Washington Focus (CWF) trip through monthly food stands at the fairboard’s flea markets.
Ivy patiently guided new members through tasks like taking orders, cleaning tables, and counting back change—always with a smile. She empowered youth to run the food stand independently, stepping in only when needed. Her mentorship left a lasting impact, with alumni still recalling the skills she taught them.
In 2006, Ivy chaperoned the CWF trip with her daughter, returning inspired and eager to encourage others to participate. She also served as a Food & Nutrition Program assistant at the Webster County Extension Office, teaching healthy eating habits to the public for four years.
One of Ivy’s favorite memories is attending the Pie in the Face Contest with a wallet full of one-dollar bills, handing them out to CWF alumni so they could get more whipped cream pies splattered on them—an example of her humor and generosity.
Ivy’s dedication to teaching, mentoring, and supporting 4-H youth has made her a cherished figure in Webster County. Her legacy lives on through the many volunteers and alumni who had the pleasure of working with her and continue to carry forward the values she instilled.
