Doug and Lisa Koehlmoos have been lifelong champions of agriculture and 4-H in O’Brien County. Both grew up on farms near Germantown and were active members of the Caledonia Ramblers 4-H Club—Doug raising hogs and Lisa working with dairy cattle. Since settling on their farm in 1989, they’ve raised hogs, commercial sheep, crops, and three sons: Chris, Andrew, and Eric.
Their commitment to 4-H has remained strong into adulthood. Whether opening gates, swinging panels, or chasing a loose sheep, Doug and Lisa are always behind the scenes at the O’Brien County Fair, lending a hand wherever needed. Their involvement began with supporting their sons’ livestock projects and has grown into years of dedicated service.
Doug has served on the O’Brien County Fair Board for 15 years and has held roles as Sheep Superintendent and now Commercial Building Superintendent. Lisa served 12 years on the O’Brien County Extension Council, focusing on youth programming, and contributed to the Royalty Contest Committee, helping recognize outstanding 4-H and FFA members.
Beyond the fairgrounds, Doug serves on the Paullina Fire Department, and both are active with the South O’Brien FFA Alumni. Their passion for giving back to the organizations that shaped their lives is evident in everything they do.
Doug and Lisa continue to inspire the next generation of 4-H members, spending time on the farm with their children and grandchildren. Their quiet leadership, dedication, and service make them invaluable to the O’Brien County 4-H community.
