Pauline Zima’s journey with 4-H began not as a youth member, but as a passionate adult volunteer who has made a lasting impact on Monona County. Originally from South Dakota, Pauline graduated from Brandon Valley School and went on to earn her master’s degree in education from Morningside College, following studies at Northern State College in Aberdeen. She taught at West Monona School for 35 years before retiring.

Pauline and her husband Doug have been married for 44 years and raised four children, all of whom were active in 4-H. Her involvement began in 1994 when she became the leader of the Blencoe Pioneers 4-H Club, a role she held until 2012. That same year, she was named County Leader of the Year. Since 1994, Pauline has also served as the Clothing Superintendent and continues to hold that position today. In 2024, she was honored with her 30-year Clover pin for her dedicated service.

Known for her exceptional sewing skills, Pauline has led numerous 4-H workshops, especially those focused on sewing. She enjoys creating unique outfits and sharing her talents with youth. Beyond sewing, she finds joy in crafting and spending time with her grandchildren.

Pauline is also deeply involved in her community. She has taught catechism since 1979 and serves as a eucharistic minister, bringing communion to shut-ins. Active in several social organizations, Pauline is known for her warm communication and willingness to help wherever needed.

Her dedication to youth, education, and service makes Pauline Zima a treasured asset to Monona County and the 4-H program.
