Larry Lacy has been a dedicated, behind-the-scenes supporter of Linn County 4-H for many years. His involvement began through marriage, and he quickly became the go-to helper whenever something needed to be built, fixed, or moved. Whether hanging bunting, installing shelves, or helping set up club booths, Larry has always been willing to lend a hand — often after long days at work.

Larry approaches each request, no matter how last-minute or unusual, with patience and a problem-solving mindset. When divider stands were needed, he created an assembly line to build many efficiently. When clubs needed LEGO tables, he designed and built rolling models that could be taken apart and stored easily. When a prize wheel needed a custom stand, Larry made it happen. From booth walls to storage solutions, his craftsmanship is visible throughout the fairgrounds and the Linn County Extension Office.

While Larry may not often be in the spotlight, his impact is everywhere. He quietly supports staff and volunteers, never hesitating to take on “odd jobs” or pitch in when plans change. Even when ideas aren’t clearly communicated or require multiple revisions, Larry remains patient and focused on helping 4-H succeed.

His creativity, generosity, and willingness to help in any way needed make him an irreplaceable part of our 4-H team. Larry’s contributions reflect the values of service, community, and dedication that define the Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame. We are proud to recognize Larry Lacy for his years of support and lasting impact on Linn County 4-H.
