Steve Schau has been a dedicated and passionate volunteer for Lee County 4-H, making a lasting impact on youth and the community. Born and raised in Lee County, Steve and his wife Dawn reside on a farm near Donnellson. His 4-H journey began as a youth member, with a strong interest in participating in the Lee County Fair—a passion that continued into adulthood.

Steve served as President of the Lee County Sheep Producers, was a longtime sheep superintendent, and actively supported Central Lee FFA. He also led a 4-H club for many years, passing on his superintendent duties to his son Justin. His hands-on contributions to the fair included building sheep pens, fixing gates, setting up the 4-H food stand, and crafting display shelves for exhibits—always stepping in to ensure success.

Steve’s greatest passion was working with youth, helping them grow, learn, and succeed. He supported all members with their projects and exhibits, including his own children, Justin and Alisha, and later his grandchildren—Skylar, Mason, and Chyane—who also became involved in 4-H.

Steve exemplified what it means to be a leader, mentor, and friend of 4-H. His dedication, generosity, and tireless efforts have left a lasting legacy in Lee County. We are proud to honor Steve Schau as the 2025 Lee County 4-H Hall of Fame inductee and deeply grateful for his years of service to the youth and community.
