Jim and Jacki Luckstead have dedicated their lives to 4-H, continuing a family tradition that spans generations and communities. Both grew up in Iowa 4-H—Jim focusing on dairy and Jacki on home economics—and carried their passion into adulthood as active parents, leaders, judges, and volunteers. Their service has extended well beyond Jones County, including annual volunteer work at the Iowa State Fair.

Jim has embraced judging roles in recent years, helping youth grow by offering new perspectives on recordkeeping and project storytelling. His presence at the Great Jones County Fair has been a valuable asset to the community.

Jacki’s impact has been especially far-reaching through her 19 years as a 4-H Youth Program Specialist in Eastern Iowa. Her leadership extended to state and national programs, where she championed inclusivity, innovation, and youth development. She played a key role in initiatives like 4-H Safety Education in Shooting Sports, Operation Military Kids, Ricochet youth leadership, SWITCH, Mindful Teen, and Real Money Real World. Jacki also excelled at securing funding and building partnerships to expand youth access to summer programs and learning opportunities.

Her training and facilitation skills helped strengthen both state and county 4-H staff, ensuring they were equipped to fulfill the 4-H mission of empowering youth. Together, Jim and Jacki continue to mentor the next generation—including their grandchildren—leaving a legacy of service, leadership, and heartfelt dedication.

Their influence on Iowa 4-H is profound, and their commitment has helped shape countless lives across the state.
