Joel and Mary Ellen Yedlik have been dedicated 4-H volunteers in Johnson County for over 22 years, bringing heart, leadership, and a deep commitment to youth development. Their 4-H journey began in their own childhoods—Joel in Johnson County and Mary Ellen in Washington County—and continued as their three children became active members.

Inspired by their children’s growth through 4-H, Joel and Mary Ellen expanded their involvement, supporting countless youth and encouraging creativity and confidence, especially through static exhibits. Joel also served on the Youth Development Committee, while together they launched a clothing event for Clover Kids, a project they hope will continue to thrive.

Their impact extends beyond events—they’ve been a steady presence at the Iowa State Fair, cheering on Johnson County youth and offering support. For Joel, 4-H is about guiding youth with purpose, while Mary Ellen values the life skills it instills, especially communication and self-confidence.

Their advice to new members is simple: “Get involved and enjoy it. Try everything at least once. Communication can be scary, but give it a try—you might surprise yourself.” They hope to be remembered as volunteers who genuinely cared and treated every member like family.

Johnson County 4-H proudly honors Joel and Mary Ellen Yedlik as 2025 Hall of Fame inductees. Their decades of service, leadership, and unwavering support have left a lasting legacy in the lives of youth and the future of the program.
