Marengo natives George and the late Kim Scott have been devoted champions of Iowa County 4-H and their community. George, a proud Iowa County 4-H alum and Kim raised their children, Jaime and Alex, to be active Iowa County 4-H’ers, continuing a legacy of involvement, leadership, and community spirit.
Together, George and Kim embodied the values of Iowa County 4-H, dedicating countless hours to ensuring its continued success and growth. George continues to be a vital presence in Iowa County 4-H, serving as a long-time member of the Iowa County Fair Board and one of the Beef Superintendents. Whether it is a beef weigh-in or a county fair show, George is there, leading with quiet dedication, ensuring every detail reflects the pride and care of Iowa County.
Kim's contributions to the fairgrounds were equally impactful. She took great pride in making sure the grounds looked their absolute best during the Iowa County Fair. Her thoughtful and forward-thinking spirit was evident in every flower bed she tended and every safety precaution she championed, most notably donating a weather radio so fair staff could receive immediate storm alerts to keep everyone safe.
The Scotts’ love for their hometown of Marengo and their commitment to Iowa County 4-H shine the brightest every July during the Iowa County Fair. Their legacy is felt in the well-manicured lawn, all successful livestock shows and, ensuring every young 4-H’er is inspired by their example.
George and Kim Scott exemplify the heart of 4-H—service, pride, and community. Iowa County is honored to recognize them in the Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame.
