Greene County 4-H is honored to recognize Rodney Wolf as the 2025 Hall of Fame Inductee. Rod first got involved with the county fair when his two children, Mikko and Timo, began showing cattle at the Greene County Fair. His commitment quickly grew, and over nearly 20 years on the fair board, Rod took on numerous responsibilities—completing odd jobs, preparing for the fair each year, and serving as chair of the Tractor Pull grandstand event. All of these roles were essential to maintaining and growing a successful county fair.
Rodney’s most significant accomplishment during his time on the fair board was playing a key role in the addition of four new barns to the Greene County Fairgrounds over just four years. Recognizing the need for funding, Rod had the idea to launch a dinner auction fundraiser. He dedicated countless hours to visiting agricultural distributors throughout Greene County to secure donated items for auction. The result of this effort was extraordinary: in just four years, the fair board raised half a million dollars to build the new facilities.
Fellow and current fair board members Doug Hawn and Josh Hedges shared, “Rod was instrumental in starting a multi-year fundraiser that resulted in over 1 million dollars of buildings and improvements to the fairgrounds. Those improvements have led to additional buildings in the next few years, giving Greene County Fair some of the nicest facilities in the state of Iowa—a huge accomplishment for a small community.”
Rod was truly instrumental in shaping the fairgrounds as they are today, and we are privileged to honor him for his dedication, vision, and lasting impact.
