Darin Meints has been a dedicated 4‑H leader and volunteer for Franklin County 4‑H for 20 years. Throughout this time, he has guided and inspired generations of young people as the leader of the West Fork Winners club, nurturing their curiosity and confidence across a wide variety of project areas. His inclusive, hands‑on approach ensures that every member, regardless of background or experience level, has the opportunity to learn new skills, set ambitious goals, and share in the thrill of achievement.
Darin’s commitment to the 4‑H program extends far beyond monthly meetings. He recently assumed responsibility for organizing the county’s “Bucket of Junk” fair challenge. In addition to his organizational talents, Darin instills a strong sense of civic responsibility in his club. West Fork Winners members regularly volunteer at the local food pantry, lead park clean‑up initiatives, and assist with community fundraising events. Even after his own children aged out of 4‑H, he has remained an unwavering supporter of the program, demonstrating that service to youth development transcends personal ties.
At the Franklin County Fair itself, Darin is a familiar and reassuring presence. Whether he’s cheering on his club members during judging sessions or managing operations behind the 4‑H food stand, his wealth of experience and warm demeanor ensure everything runs smoothly. From mentoring newcomers to rallying long‑time volunteers, Darin Meints embodies the spirit of 4‑H: empowering young people, strengthening communities, and fostering lifelong learning.
