Galen and Char Greenzweig have been pillars of Floyd County 4-H for decades. Their humble leadership, quiet dedication, and behind-the-scenes efforts have shaped the 4-H experience for countless youth. Whether lending a hand, offering encouragement, or doing the hard work to make the fair run smoothly, they embody the spirit of service.
Galen has served as Sheep Superintendent for 44 years, sharing his time and leadership to ensure the success of the sheep program. His efforts go beyond the show ring—he’s created opportunities for youth to participate, even keeping sheep at his farm so others could show for the first time. His impact is seen in both the smooth operations of the barn and the meaningful relationships he’s built with generations of 4-H’ers.
Char has been an equally dedicated volunteer, helping with the open show, judging Clover Kids projects, and supporting her children’s clubs. Whether assisting at the fair or gently guiding a kindergartener through their first project interview, Char gives her time with heart and kindness.
For the Greenzweigs, 4-H has always been a family effort. Preparing the sheep barn—setting up stalls, assigning pens, and writing stall cards—became family traditions rooted in service and teamwork.
Their support of their children through livestock and communication projects helped instill strong values of responsibility, hard work, and community.
Never seeking recognition, Galen and Char have always found joy in helping youth grow and succeed. Floyd County 4-H is honored to induct them into the 2025 Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame for their remarkable legacy of service.
