Mark and Lyla Schroder have been pillars of the East Pottawattamie 4-H program, dedicating countless hours and leadership as their sons—Steven, Jonathan, and Chad—thrived in 4-H. Their unwavering commitment took many forms and left a lasting impact on the community.
Lyla played a vital role in supporting youth development, both behind the scenes and as a leader within the county. Her dedication helped shape a nurturing environment where young people could grow and succeed. Meanwhile, Mark served as Swine Superintendent, where he guided swine carcass contest measurements and contributed to infrastructure improvements, including helping install plumbing for wash racks in the livestock area.
Beyond their direct involvement with 4-H, Mark also served as a member of the East Pottawattamie Extension Council. Both Mark and Lyla were actively involved in the local pork producers organization, further demonstrating their commitment to agriculture and community service.
Through their hands-on involvement and mentorship, the Schroders left a legacy that enriched the 4-H program and inspired generations of youth. Their induction into the 4-H Hall of Fame honors a lifetime of dedication that strengthened the fabric of the community and celebrated the enduring values of agriculture, education, and family.
