For the better part of two decades, if you have visited the 4-H Livestock office at the Clay County Fair, you most likely have been helped by Cory Peterson.
Cory is often the calm to the chaos that comes with a county and district fair that sees around 800 youth exhibitors each year. Not only is she organized, knowledgeable and friendly, she also actively engages with the 4-H youth that pass through our office.
Cory served as the County Director for Dickinson County Extension from 2001 until her retirement in 2009, where she was a strong advocate for 4-H and Extension programming. Her leadership and passion for community engagement left a lasting impact on countless youth, families, and volunteers.
Since her retirement, Cory has continued to serve the 4-H community at the Clay County Fair. Whether it’s assisting with exhibits, supporting youth during judging, or stepping in wherever help is needed, Cory is always ready to lend a hand with a smile and a can-do spirit. Her reliability, kindness, and deep understanding of the 4-H mission have made her an invaluable part of our fair team.
Cory exemplifies the values of the 4-H pledge—head, heart, hands, and health—and her legacy continues to inspire both youth and adults alike. We are honored to recognize her years of service and her continued dedication to the success of 4-H in Clay County and beyond.
