Dr. Robert 'Bob' Bryant, a former Cherokee County 4-H’er, graduated from Iowa State University Veterinary College in 1964 and moved back to his home county. Dr. Bryant parlayed a veterinary practice, livestock production, and entrepreneurship into a highly successful business career. Bob and his wife Becky raised an outstanding family, with their true roots remaining dedicated to 4-H and their rural heritage.
Dr. Bryant volunteered to emcee the livestock shows at the Cherokee County Fair for many years. He also provided leadership in the development of the Advanced Cattle Feeding 4-H project, giving many 4-H’ers their entry into production livestock. For over 50 years, Dr. Bryant was chairman and judge of the district and county Livestock Judging Contest. He also initiated the 4-H Foundation in 1990, which has raised many funds and financial support for Cherokee County 4-H and its members over the years. He always was willing to take time from his busy schedule any time that 4-H needed him.
We continue to enjoy his legacy, as he has instilled his passion for livestock and 4-H in his children and grandchildren, who are now active members of Cherokee County 4-H. We are extremely grateful for Dr. Bryant's dedication to Cherokee County 4-H.
