Colette (Coe) Sampson exemplifies the true spirit of 4-H through a lifetime of dedication to the values of head, heart, hands, and health. A lifelong resident of Cerro Gordo County, Colette began her 4-H journey with the Ventura Hustlers 4-H Club, where she held every office and excelled in both livestock and home economics projects. Her hard work earned numerous county and state fair awards, establishing her as a standout 4-H member.

For over 20 years, Colette served as the leader of the Mason City Challengers 4-H Club, mentoring countless youth and inspiring a deep love for 4-H. Her leadership continues through her own children, who have followed in her footsteps as active and successful 4-H members.

Colette’s dedication to service extends beyond 4-H. She graduated as valedictorian from Ventura Community School, earned her degree from the University of Iowa, and completed her master’s in Audiology at the University of Arizona. For 35 years, she has worked for the Area Education Agency, supporting hearing-impaired students. Her impact in education was recognized as a Globe Gazette Top 10 Under 40 honoree.

She is also deeply involved in her community—coaching youth sports, volunteering at Zion Lutheran Church, and serving on the Cerro Gordo County Extension Council.

Family is central to Colette’s life. She and her husband Michael, married for 34 years, raised three children—Clayton, Kacy, and Claire—who all thrived in 4-H. Colette continues to support their endeavors with pride and enthusiasm.

Through her lifelong commitment to 4-H, education, and service, Colette Sampson has made a lasting impact. She is a true role model and a deserving inductee into the 4-H Hall of Fame.
