Calhoun County’s 2025 4-H Hall of Fame recipient is Jill Mims. She has been involved at both the club and county levels for over 20 years. She helped found and build the Shooting Sports Club from the ground up. She was the club leader until last year when she handed the responsibility off to the current leaders.
She was very active in the extension office, holding multiple positions within the office. She was the County Youth Coordinator as well as the Location Manager. As the Youth Coordinator, Jill was very involved with the county youth, as well as the surrounding counties, through participation in regional events. She led many different educational camps throughout the years. She also worked with the county youth council very closely and allowed them to lead some camps, which built their skill sets to be beyond ready for their next chapter in life. The youth council was involved in fundraisers, leading programs in the summer, traveling to historical and educational sites, as well as assisting with the county fair.
Jill has made such a great impact on many young people over the years, including the current county youth coordinator, Mitchell Clark. To this day, she still aids county staff in whatever ways she can. It is an honor to have Jill as part of the community. Thank you for your contributions to making the best, better.
