Russell Henning was born on January 14, 1941. He passed away on July 8, 2024. Russell was a resident of Butler County for over 70 years. He was a long-time supporter of the Butler County Fair and Butler County 4-H. Russell spent his life farming and raising livestock. Russell and his brother raised and showed Purebred Angus cattle. Russell enjoyed supporting the 4-H events at the Butler County Fair and going to the Iowa State Fair. He loved watching all of his nieces show cattle over the years and, most recently, enjoyed watching his great nieces and nephews show their 4-H livestock projects.

Russell was on the Farm Bureau Board for over 20 years. He also enjoyed his time serving with the Butler County Pork Producers. Russell loved the Butler County Fair and took great pride in the improvements made at the fairgrounds. Russell gave back and supported the fair financially, donating money to the new restrooms, offices, and the new livestock building. Russell and his brother also donated a building located at the fairgrounds to be used by the fair and 4-H. Russell always helped with the antique tractor show at the fair and took great pride in putting his tractors on display. Russell was a great friend to the Butler County Fair and Butler County 4-H.
