Kevin and Judy Lansing are both lifetime supporters of the 4-H program. Growing up, Judy was a Madison Mary Makers 4-H Club member and exhibited beef, sewing, and cooking projects. Kevin was a member of the Co-Champions 4-H Club and exhibited sheep. When Kevin was ten, he purchased his first lamb from his neighbor and began showing sheep, leading to a lifelong connection to the sheep industry.

Kevin has judged local county fairs and the All-Iowa Fair, helping to educate and share his passion for the sheep industry with youth. Kevin and Judy’s children were all active 4-H members. They have instilled the value of 4-H in their children and many others they have met through their years in the 4-H program.

Kevin served as a Winneshiek County Extension Council member, where he worked to build partnerships and provide learning opportunities throughout Winneshiek County. The Lansing Family led an initiative to raise funds to construct the Danan Lansing Building at the Winneshiek County Fairgrounds in memory of their son, Danan, a passionate sheep exhibitor. The building was built in 2008 and holds many community events throughout the year, and houses sheep and goats at the Winneshiek County Fair.

Kevin and Judy have not only helped and supported their children in 4-H but many other members in the area. They assist with numerous county sheep and goat events, including weigh-ins and shows, and help to grow the interest of the project. Winneshiek County is grateful for Kevin and Judy’s commitment to promoting 4-H and sharing their passions with others.
