For decades, Kingsley and Cynthia Johnson have been invaluable to the Winnebago County Extension and Outreach, 4-H program, and county fair. They were 4-H co-leaders for twenty years, and all three of their children were active members. During a period of staff shortage, Cynthia stepped in as a part-time staff member for the Extension Office, serving from 2023 to 2024. She continues to volunteer and support extension staff wherever needed.
Kingsley served on the Winnebago County Fair Board for nearly twenty-five years, and Cynthia has done bookkeeping for the Board for ten years. Their combined years of experience with 4-H, ISU Extension and Outreach, and the Fair Board have made them true Winnebago County Fair experts, and they are always willing to answer questions and lend a helping hand at the fair.
Kingsley and Cynthia have also been active in other areas of the community. They have been members of Scarville Synod Lutheran Church for over thirty years. Kingsley has served the congregation both as an elder and a trustee multiple times over the years. Cynthia has been an organist at Scarville throughout their membership as well. She has also played organ for many other churches in the community for the past fifty-five years. Cynthia has been a Forest City Municipal Band member for more than thirty years. For thirty-five years, she played in ‘Sig’s Band,’ a small musical group that performed at community events and nursing homes; she even led the group for five of those years.
Winnebago County is very grateful for their many years of service to their community and 4-H youth!
