Gale Kraft was a 4-H mom who noticed when help was needed at the fair. She willingly volunteered to help however she could and found a niche that became very important: State Fair Exhibits Coordinator.
Gale studied the classes before the fair and knew all the rules and quotas that would apply. She ensured that alternates were chosen and the descriptions sent to the state office were accurate. She also recruited a crew of helpers to create a lovely display of exhibits going to the State Fair. In the years that she served in this capacity, Gale was able to work with a variety of volunteers. Gale loves seeing the talent and growth of the 4-H members.
In addition to working with the 4-H program, Gale became a Scott County Extension Council member. In this capacity, she could give input about the 4-H program to ensure quality. Her professional work in human resources was beneficial, and she made contacts and gave information about employment issues and the trends she saw in the industry. This enhanced Scott County’s work with youth, helping staff and volunteers see the need for various skills to be developed by young people.
