Mr. Dale Wilson's posthumous impact on the Lee County 4-H program and community makes him an exemplary candidate for the Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame honor.
Mr. Dale Wilson was a lifelong resident and farmer of rural West Point in Lee County, living on his family farm for nearly ninety-five years. He was the last descendant of Hugh Wilson, one of the early descendants of Lee County.
Mr. Wilson started farming when he was just thirteen years old and continued farming along with his sister until their retirement. Dale was also a World War II Veteran serving our country in the 11th Air Cargo Resupply Squadron.
Due to Mr. Wilson's lifelong agriculture background and hard work, he was able to bequeath his estate to many community and agricultural organizations, including the Lee County 4-H program. This has allowed Lee County 4-H to create an endowment that will be used to empower Lee County youth over many generations and promote positive change within our communities. Mr. Dale Wilson's generosity will profoundly impact Lee County and its youth for years to come.
