Elaine Boeding-Thoman grew up with her eight siblings on her family’s century farm in Southeast Iowa. She began her lifelong 4-H career in Lee County, where she was a Cedar Chips 4-H Club member.
Elaine began volunteering for Johnson County 4-H twenty-two years ago. Since then, she has been a club leader for the East Lucas Clovers 4-H club, served on the Youth Development Committee, was superintendent for the Johnson County Fair Queen Contest for sixteen years, aided in planning the annual Project Workshop Extravaganza, and more. She has never been afraid to help when needed for the county program.
Elaine became a club leader because she loved and learned so much through her time in 4-H. She decided to share her passion and knowledge with youth in Johnson County. Elaine’s favorite aspect of being a club leader is interacting with the youth; they help keep her involved. Elaine has always valued and emphasized community service and the importance of giving back to her club members.
Elaine is an incredible representative of Johnson County 4-H and has touched many youth through her dedication and commitment to the 4-H program.
