Kristi Peck found her passion for 4-H early, exhibiting cattle, horses, and many static projects. She attended Kirkwood to study equine science before earning a business degree. Brian Peck attended Kirkwood and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving on the USS Enterprise and the USNS Indomitable. While exhibiting horses at the Clay County Fair, Kristi met Brian. They were married in 1996. As a pair, Kristi and Brian worked together to support the 4-H program.

Brian enjoyed farming, hunting, trapping, horses, gardening, and family time. He was active in 4-H as a member and leader. In Jan 2015, he was diagnosed with Lymphoma and passed away in Sept 2018. Kristi is currently a 4-H leader for the Okoboji Hoofbeats dedicating over 22 years as a 4-H volunteer. As a poultry and rabbit committee member, she has contributed ideas for workshops and projects. Kristi’s passion for small animals has encouraged youth to try project areas and given many first-time families the support and confidence to participate. Her countless hours have prepared many 4-H members to show at the county, district, and state levels.

Kristi’s continuous support has been a strong asset. Known for her attention to detail and rules, staff and families alike have relied on Kristi for help with all things county fair. This same attention to detail has developed leadership skills in current Club Members and 4-H Alumni. Brian and Kristi’s love of 4-H and knack for leadership and service was passed on to their children, Cody and Kelsey.

Annually, the Peck Family sponsors the Dickinson County Fair Egg exhibition as a legacy of Brian’s love of 4-H and the opportunities it provides youth in their county.
