Siblings Jolene Carolan and Mike Geisler display a lifelong dedication to 4-H. Mike was an 8-year Black Hawk Stars Club member, maintaining several livestock and static exhibit projects. He also showed horses in the Iowa State Fair 4-H division. Later, after graduating from ISU in Ag Business, Mike and his wife, Jeanette, began a rental property business that grew into Geisler Builders, a construction company.
In 2000, the couple purchased ground north of Hudson where they built their home and farm building site. Their children, Brice, Wes, Maria, and Jake, grew the livestock operation and 4-H projects at this location. A longtime member of the County Fair Board, Mike went on to serve as vice president for ten years. His expertise in building has served the 4-H and FFA Fair well, as the Geisler family has made repairs, constructed backdrops, and cleaned up many locations around the fairgrounds.
His sister, Jolene Carolan, has set forth the same dedication to the 4-H organization for many years. She was a 9-year Black Hawk Stars club member involved in many livestock and static exhibits. After graduating with a degree in ag business, Jolene and her husband, Aaron, bought land south of Cedar Falls to build a farmstead as they developed their business, Carolan Builders. Their four children, Kayla, Travis, Jessica, and Blake, were longtime 4-H members who exhibited livestock at the county and state fairs. Jolene and three of her children now serve on the Black Hawk County Fair Board. In addition, Jolene has been a 4-year member of the Black Hawk County 4-H Fair Foundation. Her dedication to helping 4-H youth is treasured.
