Scott and Karin Shuey have been involved in 4-H for much of their lives. After moving to Corning from Nebraska, Scott has been an established veterinarian for over 30 years. Whether there was a weigh-in or fair check-in, Scott was always just a call away to lend a helping hand. Scott was also Vet of the Year in 2016.
Karin, who is originally from Kansas, made her way to Corning with Scott. She has been a flight attendant for American Airlines for 40 years. Scott and Karin were club leaders for the Jasper Specialist 4-H Club from 2000-2014.
Scott was an active 4-H member by showing cattle at the Nebraska State Fair. Karin also showed goats at the Kansas State Fair. Scott was instrumental in establishing the Red Angus Show Aksarben.
When not helping with 4-H or other various community activities, Scott and Karin enjoy attending activities with their three children: Ryan, Madison, and Morgan. They are also kept busy with their two grandchildren, Milo and Finn. They also enjoy working with their Red Angus cow herd and taking their dogs on hikes.
You won't see too many stands at local Southwest Iowa fair sales without Scott there to support. Both Scott and Karin have been instrumental to not only Adams County but Iowa 4-H as a whole. They embody the motto "making the best, better."
