Monona CountyElaine Banks has lived in the Mapleton area all of her life.  She has two daughters, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.  She was never in 4-H, but became a leader from 1977-1986, when her two children, Denise and Darla, started and finished 4-H.  She has also had 3 of her grandchildren join 4-H from 4th grade until graduating.  She received the Monona County Honorary 4-H member Award in 1979.  Through the years, she started subbing as needed for the Extension Office covering when people were off and as extra help at fair time until 1999 when she started working for the Monona County Fair board in the summer. In 2008, she started volunteering as a fair 4-H Superintendent, taking off 2013-2015, and then coming back on board and has been a Fair superintendent in many areas, where needed, ever since.  She is very active in the Castana Church Ladies Aid and the Castana Jr. 76ers. Elaine worked for the Maple Valley School for 33 years first as the printer and then the secretary touching the lives of many young people.  Elaine enjoys being with her family and enjoying activities they do.  From time to time, Elaine watches her two great grandchildren.
