Guy and Karol Carpenter are gracious and kind, long-time 4-H club volunteers. Guy regularly opened his shop and machine shed every Sunday night from the end of May until fair time in mid-July for local 4-Hers to bring their dog and practice dog obedience, rallly, and dog agility to get their dog ready for the county fair. Guy always had the patience of a saint as he worked with youth and dogs that had been shown for many years to a 5 month old puppy. Even the puppies that are high energy, short attention span, and not ready to listen didn’t bother Guy. He gave those youth extra attention and even invited them to additional sessions. He did all of this before he retired as dog superintendent in 2018.
Guy's wife Karol has been a regular volunteer at the Floyd County Fair whether it be helping out Guy at the dog show or helping out at the cash register at the food stand. Karol continues to volunteer as chairperson of the Floyd County Extension Council.
Guy and Karol also continue their love of dogs bringing their dog to local hospitals, schools, and nursing homes.
