Butler County is pleased to select Jim Johnson as their 2023 Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame inductee. Jim began his 4-H career in Butler County in 1971 as a member of the East Butler Boys 4-H club. Jim explored a variety of project areas such as family and consumer science, livestock, tractor safety, and gardening. Jim has remained active in 4-H over the years helping his own children and now his grandchildren with their projects. Jim has served on the 4-H and youth committee for 20 years and has been a leader of the East Butler Ramblers 4-H club for 16 years. Jim has also served as superintendent of the 4-H Pet division of the Butler county fair for over 14 years. Jim enjoys working with young people and encouraging them to learn by doing. Jim sees the importance of having youth voice in all areas of 4-H and makes sure to seek out their feedback. Jim sees the potential in all youth to set goals and work toward achieving them. Jim's talents, support, and dedication have made a great impact in Butler County. Jim is a great asset to not only his club and community but all of Butler county and Iowa 4-H.
