Boone County 4-H is proud to honor Lori Weyhrich as their 2023 4-H Hall of Fame Inductee. Lori, originally from Oklahoma, never participated in 4-H as a child. However, when her daughters expressed interest, the entire family fully embraced the program. Lori has served in many roles, including 13 years as a Luther Livewires 4-H Club leader, 8 years on the Boone County 4-H Youth Development Committee, 3 years on the Recordkeeping and Recognition Taskforce, and two years as Dog Superintendent.
Lori was a valuable member of the Recordkeeping and Recognition Taskforce, contributing to the improvement of the Award Nomination Selection process. She played a key role in devising and experimenting with new Participation Summary Forms that were simpler to comprehend.
From a young age, Lori has found joy in working with horses and dogs. She has trained a few therapy dogs and is now a certified therapeutic riding instructor for people with disabilities at One Heart Equestrian Therapy. She has also passed on her love for animals to her daughters.
Lori is a person who is always ready to lend a helping hand. When the Dog Committee was going through a transition phase, Lori stepped up to take on the role of Dog Superintendent. She continued to hold this position for two years.
Lori is the proud mother of three wonderful daughters. Her daughters have carried on Lori’s kind and generous traits by actively volunteering with the 4-H program. Lori motivates not only her own daughters but also others to explore new opportunities and pursue their interests with enthusiasm and hard work. Lori's heart is filled with generosity, and she always finds ways to give back to others. Lori's volunteer work has left a lasting impact on the lives she has touched in a positive way, ensuring that she will be remembered.
