Kirk Brandt was born and raised on a family farm in southwest Iowa, just south of Prescott. The youngest child in a large family, Kirk was active from an early age in agriculture & 4-H. Growing up in 4-H through the 1970's in the Prescott 4-Her's club, he showed livestock and participated in various other 4-H club activities.
After his time in 4-H was done, Kirk stayed very active in the Adams County Fair, especially with the livestock shows and sales. He has served on many boards involved with the fair along with serving as superintendent of several events which include: Admas County Fair Board, Adams County Cattlemen's Board, Beef Show Superintendent, Share-A-Calf Board Member, Livestock Sale Superintendent and many others. He has also spent a little time as a beef judge and showmanship judge at various local level cattle shows throughout Iowa.
Kirk's passion for 4-H has always shown the brightest in his willingness to give back to the youth. His selflessness is seen every year, whether it is through helping a young 4-H’er get started with a livestock project, buying multiple animals at the fair sale every year or by simply stepping up to help with a project at any time of the year whenever his phone rings.
Today, Kirk and his wife, Lynn, along with their youngest son Weston and his wife Bree and granddaughters Kenzie and Hollynd, own and operate Brandt Farms in Corning, Iowa. Farming approximately 1500 acres of row crop along with 200 head of purebred Angus, Simmental and Hereford cattle. Kirk's oldest son Austin & fiancé Glenna, manage the marketing and advertisement side of Brandt Farms. They have two annual sales to market purebred females along with offering purebred bulls all year long privately. They have also begun to offer more locker beef all year long privately along with a local storefront.
