Margaret GrimmMargaret Grimm from West Bend, Iowa was a very devoted and respected 4-H leader in Palo Alto County in the 1980s and early 1990s, giving many hours to the 4-H program. Citizenship and leadership are exemplified by her participation in community activities showing concern for 4-H and the welfare of others.

Margaret was a leader for the Fern Valley 4-H Club in the Rodman/West Bend area for a little over 15 years. Her expertise was in sewing so she taught many 4-Hers the life skill of construction of clothing and home furnishings. She taught many other skills, too, through her words of encouragement and continuous involvement with youth. Margaret also served as a judge for 4-H events.

Margaret was raised on a family farm near Lester, Iowa, where she was one of 10 kids. She got her start in 4-H as a youth when she was a member of the Lester Lassies 4-H Club. She took a variety of projects to the fair each year and was always excited about learning new skills. She attended school at Lester High School and West Lyon North High School. Following high school, she worked at the Lyon County Extension Office for two years. She then married Eli Grimm and moved to the West Bend area. She and Eli had three daughters, all of who were 4-H’ers and very active in the 4-H program in Palo Alto County.

Margaret is still a very active community leader.  She was an election worker and currently is very involved with the West Bend Historical Society.
